During the"New Cold War"period before the apocalypse, in order to sustain safe and continuous transnational trade,Grigoland his friend Sander sinitiated the LandArk Project—the construction of massive self-sustaining mobile platforms capable of long-distance migration, serving as “moving territories” to protect merchant convoys.
After the fall of civilization, the energy field of the Ember Omnicore happened to cover smaller LandArks, turning them into independent and enclosed mobile bases for survival.
As more refugees followed Grigol’s example, various types of LandArks were built.From then on, LandArks not only replaced railways as the new long-range transport, but also replaced fixed cities as humanity’s new mode of life and production.
