So Federico grew up to the sound of his grandmother’s cough echoing through their shack, accompanied by the weary creak of her loom—his lullabies, forged in hardship.

There wasn’t enough soil for dreams to take root. While his grandmother wove threads to barter for bread, Federico scavenged the slag heaps—grubbing through industrial corpses for coal fragments and metal scraps worth a meal.

School was a distant dream—but dumpsters made decent libraries. Federico salvaged torn textbooks and studied them under the flickering buzz of streetlamps. And through those yellowed pages, whole worlds unfurled: electronics, mechanics, the rise and fall of empires, the stars beyond the dust. He read like a starving man eats—desperately, endlessly.

During one of his experiments, he managed to transform an old refrigerator compressor into a water purification device. Though it tasted faintly of rust, this invention brought affordable drinking water to the entire town, earning Federico a modest reputation as the local “Pequeño científico.”
